Nurse Manager (RN) - 1st Shift
This position is responsible for managing one or more defined area(s) of nursing service at Lakeland Health Care Center and for providing clinical and managerial leadership for the day-to-day operations of the area(s).
**_SUPERVISION_**
This position manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees on the nursing households and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these households.The Nurse Manager carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Participate in Nursing Department policy and procedure formulation and implementation of objectives for the Nursing Department.
Implement and interpret specific standards and objectives for a defined area.
Interpret and translate the theoretical concepts of nursing into the delivery of nursing services.
Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care, including documentation.
Evaluate the performance of all nursing staff in an assigned area(s).
Monitor compliance with requirements of regulatory agencies.
Participate in the state and federal nursing home survey and implement the plan of correction for nursing deficiencies as well as monitor the plan for compliance.
Interpret job expectations and lines of authority to staff.
Assume leadership roles on committees.
Perform nursing tasks during staff shortages.
Use information systems to retrieve and retain essential records and services.
Act as the communication liaison between the Director of Nursing and the staff.
Plan, direct and supervise nursing and health care services for a defined area(s).
Participate, as needed, in an on call rotation with Director of Nursing, other Nurse Manger and MDS Coordinator for nursing management problems.
Complete the investigation of alleged resident abuse, neglect or misappropriation. Forward all investigative results to the Director of Nursing.
Participate in interdisciplinary resident care conferences following admissions, quarterly and on an as-needed basis.
Institute, monitor and participate in the Quality Assurance and Assessment process to evaluate the quality of care provided in a defined area.
Inspect unit areas to verify that resident needs are met and collaborate with support services to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
Ensure cost effective use of resources and provide input to the Director of Nursing for budget preparation for a defined area(s).
Ensure the appropriate orientation, training and continuing education for nursing staff and self.
Provide a climate conducive to educational experiences for nursing and Certified Nursing Assistant students.
Coordinate nursing with the services of other disciplines.
Provide a safe level of care by evaluating and maintaining staffing schedules and adjusting as necessary on a daily basis.
Communicate and provide support to residents and their families with regard to problem solving and decision making for the improvement and continuation of quality resident care.
Participate in fire drills and direct disaster evacuations and procedures when circumstances warrant.
Represent the Nursing Department in the absence of the Director of Nursing as well as provide coverage for other management staff as needed.
Work with social services and therapeutic recreation to enhance the Memory Caf as a means of community support.
Work with all disciplines to specialize the memory care neighborhoods in order to enhance each resident's life.
Audit documentation of nurses and nursing assistants on a daily basis.
Work with the Director of Nursing to develop specialized teams such as wound care and infection control.
Complete and assure accuracy of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) process.
Participate in the annual emergency preparedness project.
Demonstrate a commitment to county safety and risk management efforts.
Qualifications:

**_Education and/or Experience_**
Associate's degree in nursing and three to five years of relevant prior experience.Bachelor's degree preferred.Proven experience in ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry as well as ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Proven experience with medical terminology.

**_Certificates, Licenses, Registrations_**
Wisconsin Registered Nurse license.
